Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an area of scientific study and a professional discipline that focuses on the development of socially valid skills and the treatment of problem behavior that interferes with the development of such skills.

ABA has been shown to be a successful model for teaching or providing therapy to a variety of individuals presenting with behavioral challenges, among these students or adults with learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, speech or motor delays, social skills deficits, behavior problems, academic challenges, and other performance problems. Behavior analysts use specific tactics or strategies based on the scientific principles of learning (behavioral principles) and carefully measure and analyze success to accomplish data-based decision making. ABA has been named the treatment of choice for educating children with autism spectrum disorders.

Life Coaching

Unlike counseling that deals with helping people get well and the focus on healing wounds from past emotional traumas from life experiences or relationships, coaching is future focused.  It is not fixated with the past.  Coaches enable clients to take control of their lives through actionable strategies for the improvements and goals the clients want to see manifest in their lives.

Life coaching is an intentional relationship where a coach supports a client in developing vision and goals for their life and utilizes multiple strategies to empower the client to use their personal power to discover their own solutions. The nature of a coaching relationship is empowerment and accountability.  It is assumed that the client desires to see real change in their lives.  The coach, as a change expert, empowers the client to take control of their lives, fulfill their potential, and reach their goals. Coaches challenge, stretch, push, and hold the client accountable all the while communicating an affirmation of “I believe in you.”

Birkman Assessment

Birkman is a science-backed suite of self-assessment tools that is innovated over seven decades. It’s the way we interpret and apply Birkman personality data at work and in life. It’s a practice used by Birkman Fanily (influential consultants, coaches, mentors, and leaders), to empower growth and performance. Birkman is one assessment–this underpins a scalable suite of products, training and consulting services, that exist to improve results for organizations and people across the global community–one personality at a time.

Birkamn is an advanced assessment tool that uncovers and interprets behavior, motivations, and personality. Additionally, it measures underlying needs which are the support an individual needs from others and environments to be one’s most effective self. It combines behavioral and occupational data in one assessment for a greater understanding of a person’s ideal fit within an organization. It also examines personality and perceptions in a social context as it promotes greater self-management and encourages mutual respect among colleagues. It also help a person identify his leadership style, problem solving techniques, career path, interests, and much more.

Usual Behavior: Birkman uses the term Usual Behavior to describe how client typically behaves. These behaviors are client’s strengths, and they compose his/her most productive style. Client Usual Behavior encompasses how other people see him/her and how client acts when his/her Needs are met.

Why This Matters: Self-awareness of how others view client’s behavior helps him/her understands the gap between how client thinks and come across versus how others experience him/her. These insights help client determines what works best for one naturally.

Needs and Stress Behavior: Needs represent how client expects to be treated by other people and his/her environment. Needs are often invisible. Stress Behavior is how client may act when his/her Needs have not been met for an extended period of time.

Why This Matters: When client Needs are not met, his/her Stress Behavior may become activated. Understanding Needs and Stress helps client gains insight into actionable steps to better-manage oneself and avoid unproductive behavior.

Interests: Interests reflect activities client naturally gravitates towards and what he/she likes to do, both inside and out of the workplace.

Why This Matters: Knowing ones Interests helps client understands what motivates him/her, guiding his/her career and life decisions to stay energized and productive.
